CROWBOROUGH CHALLENGE 2026

OPEN TO ALL!

The challenge – re-cycling

To make a wind-driven boat out of re-cycled materials that can sail across the Crowborough pond.

Rules

The boat must not be more than 2 feet in length (610mm)

All parts must be taken from previously existing objects other than a boat

Wood can be used but it must have been part of another object - not just previously a tree!

However, unused nails, screws, glues, thread, string, sticky tape and paint are allowed

The event

The event is open to everyone – not just boat club members

The event will be run on Sunday May 17th 2026 from 2:00PM

The competition

Boats will be judged winners for:

1.       Winning the boat races across the pond

2.       Being judged the most inventive

Examples:

There are several examples of bottle boats on youtube, but you can use anything you like as long as it is made from all recycled parts

Please note: below is an example pattern, but the boat must be made from recycled parts - not from the kit shown below

Like all our competitions it is intended to be fun and definitely not taken too seriously!
